“We have a vision for people in the North West where every day is the best it can be. Where people live happy, healthy lives; able to live in their community with the support of family and friends and making best use of the things available to them in their neighbourhood. When more help is needed it starts with a conversation about what makes a great day for them, and builds upon the things in their life which enable them to live happily at home, and is met in ways to suit them by brilliant caring people.”

We have developed an ambitious ten year vision for adult social care in the North West with the help of people who use services, carers, councils, providers and our partners.

We are faced with enormous challenges. The demand for social care grows each year whilst the money councils have for providing it is reducing. At the same time people aspire to have more personalised and flexible services to suit the way they live their lives. Our vision sets the direction and tone for how we will collectively meet those challenges and aspirations.

We are focussing on three main areas:

  • Future Models – the models of care and support which help people to live happy and healthy lives at home
  • Future Markets – the type of organisations people want to provide their care and support
  • Future Workforce – the people who have the right skills and values to provide care and support

What we do to achieve our vision will be done collaboratively with people who have care and support needs, their families and carers, communities and providers.

Help us to shape the future. If you would like to be part of the work we are doing, or if you would like more information, please email nwadass@wigan.gov.uk .
